Secret Base

spec:
Penciling: Manga studio 4 EX
Coloring: Photoshop

Haven't update this blog for a while. :P  I feels bad not able to draw as fast as I used to.  I do have some drawing between this and the last one, but those are all left unfinished :(

I did a demo of Manga Studio with Smith Micro in a Mac computer expo today.  It took me a while to adjust to the demo flow, lol.  Man, I missed the good old days.

Drawing practice! Using old character and setting and adding in some new ideas. Now it looks completely different than my original ideas. This is fun and I may do some more. (If I can have a better time management...now I'm pretty slow on each new drawing update. :P  )

Chun-Li © Capcom

Spec: Photoshop
Time:  Many XD

I try to do a speed paint on Chun Li but ending up put more time on it, so this it not a speed paint at all, lol.    To tell the truth, I'm using blanka and Ryo more than Chun Li in the games. :P

Firefox 3.6 killed the color on this one. But using IE the color look same as my original...weird.

*fix the color issue by save the picture as Adobe RGB (1998)

And More pages updated for WebComic My Angel, My Devil.

Having some trouble to update my website. Cannot find a way to make the jump menu work with the main frame. Originally I want a two frames page and make the jump menu on the top frame and put each new drawing on the main frame. But I couldn't make the jump menu to work with the way I want. :( Guess I have to update every page and copy and paste the script each time when I update a new page. I will keep looking for a solution for it and goes with the basic HTML page for now.

On the other note, I updated my website with a brunch of new Manga Studio 4 tutorial and a new Web Comic, My Angel, My Devil. I will put the Web Comic page on my DA page and my website. Check it.

PS: I also make a rotate picture script on the front page.  When you click on it, it will direct you to the page.  :)
(it takes a bit longer for rotate pic to load at first though...like 3-5 second.  At least with my crappy internet speed.)

New toy! Dell U2410 ISP LCD. Waiting the price to drop for sometime and finally get the $150 off deal, sweet. :P

*An ISP panel is a must if you work on graphic and print related. The TN panel is a lot cheaper but it will give you nightmare to match the screen and print.

It looks smaller than my cintiq21ux in the picture. But actually it is bigger when measure with screen size. :) Already calibrate with eye one display 2 and it pretty much match my old monitor. (My camera gives it some pinkish tint...I don't know why...and my room is too yellowish in this picture too, haha) I may hook it up with my Wii.

I still have 6 pages to finish the first chapter. Something happened last month--my hard drive dead and I almost lost a month worth of drawing. (Not a good excuse, I know, haha.) If you happened own a Seagate hard drive, you should aware of this. If you have a Seagate 7200.11, it had firmware issue with 100% fail rate. It will lock the hard drive and make it unusable. Check if the model is on the affect list and preform the firmware update ASAP (of course back up your stuff first.) If it is too late like my situation, you can find someone to unlock the drive online/ebay. I got back my hard drive this way. I'm glad I didn't use the freezer trick and try to save my drive.

*on the side note, be aware of seagate hard drive, they sell Hard drive in retail box with different model name on it. I have couple of hard drive like this, and I didn't notice it until I had a dead drive and need to RMA and found out the model number mismatch. (I bought a new one and it also have a same problem, so I return it. 5 years warranty means nothing if it can't register on the site and had OEM label on the drive when you bought it as retail.) I glad I can get back a month worth of drawing with the price of a new hard drive and some panic.

Got an Ergotron desk mount for my Cintiq 21UX. It took me sometime to install because my desk doesn't have enough space for the base to mount on. (I should buy the wall mount instead.) My solution is mount it on my other desk. The cintiq weight around 18lb so it's pretty heavy for me to move it around every time I use it now though.

Modification for the cable cover plate on the Cintiq so the cable is coming out from the top but not in the middle. I'm not sure if I can put it back as the original...

Now I can "slide" the Cintiq lower and closer to me, in a more natural position like holding a drawing board. Hope it can solve my back pain in a long run. :) (Why I don't know about this product till now?)

My next goal is working on a webcomic. I try to work on a 4-koma since it will be easier for me to handle than a whole page comic. Hopefully I can start posting it online in a month or two. (Now I can only draw 1-2 hours each day, guess the day time job really chew me out, lol.)
